In 1826, Fresnel, a French scientist, used a biprism to divide wave front of a beam of coherent light
into two parts to form component wave interference, with which the interference fringe spacing (in millimeter magnitude) was measured and in consequence to have the light wavelength (in nanometer magnitude) being found out. The physics concepts and experimental technique concerned with this experiment are valuable for teaching. This biprism embodies the following advantages:
