1) As herb:
In human medicine, they are used as diuretic, spasmolic, sedative remedy
at chronic inflammation of the kidneys and uretic channels, chronic reumatism, black liver and skin diseases, neurosis, etc.
2) As cosmetic means - in the perfumery & cosmetic industry:
The fruits are distilled to receive Juniper essential oil and hydrosol.
Especially the Bulgarian Juniper oil is one of the most qualitative juniper essential oils in the world, due to its rich content, pleasant and typical flavour, which comes from the most favourable climatic conditions in Bulgaria. Therefore it is used in the fine perfumery and medicinal cosmetics.
3) As raw material for the gin production:
The juniper fruits are used as raw material in the classic gin production. But, only distillers, which stand by the quality of their gin brands, continue to stick to the classical method of gin production - by using the fruits themselves and not the oil, or hydrosol. The reason is, that the juniper berries are expensive. Therefore, those distillers, which do not care for the quality of their gin, escape to use the fruits, but just use juniper oil, or hydrosol. This of course, do not give them the right to put "classic method" on their gin bottles. In fact, gin from such distilleries have nothing in sense with the authentic gin production and therefore their gin is with poor quality and does not worth to be drunk.
