Pharmacology Action: It is widely used to be the anti-inflammatory, antiheoplastic, anti-allergic and anti-convulsive agent. It can relieve pain and induce urine. According to Chinese pharmacology, licorice is mild and sweet.Entering the liver, spleen and lung, it can mix various kinds of medicines appropriately and treat cold or heat illness within the internal organs, phthisis and wounds, lubricate lung and expel toxin and regulate the middle-jiao and keep the adverse qi downward. It is taken as an edulcorant in foods. Glycyrrhizin, the pure natural compound extracted from licorice can treat Aids with particular efficacy.
