WVS Real Estate Spain is a family-run estate agency founded one year ago by Hayley Warner. The business has gone from strength to strength over the last twelve months and Hayley puts this down to one major point: HONESTY. “I think that running this company in the same way as you would an estate agency in England have paid dividends and people say that it has brought a breath of fresh air to the local real estate industry. The most surprising thing is that we are experiencing a roughly fifty-fifty split between English and Spanish clients which, for a foreign-owned estate agency, I think is quite complimentary. In some ways it is an odd feeling selling an English or Dutch client’s house or villa to a Spanish purchaser.”
Due to the ongoing success of WVS, Hayley has had to take on two more members of staff to keep up with inquiries for, and listing of, new property. Also, her husband Roger is now dealing solely with rental properties. This is an expanding market: not only are there foreigners wanting to rent long term in the area before purchasing, but there are also a lot of Spanish clients looking for rental homes as well. Hayley says “We certainly may not be the biggest estate agency on the Costa del Sol, nor even in Alhaurin de la Torre, but most of the time it is not the size that counts; what is most important are plain honesty, courtesy and personal attention to our customers needs and requirements”.
